I used a Edelbrock Performer Vortec as others did and it just barely hit on the passenger side. I will either change it to a Weiand Action Plus which is about 3/4" lower than the Edelbrock ...or go with the Edelbrock two four setup. Both should work. Phil

Edlebrock makes a low profile dual quad p/n C26 that will work. Comes in endura finish (polished) and you can get their 500 cfm also in the endura finish.

My brother used the Weiand Action Plus on his 65. Plenty of clearance and works great.

The Edelbrock RPM "Air Gap" manifold measures less than 1/10th of an inch higher than my stock manifold on my matching #'s 327/365.

I'm doing a MAJOR rebuild of my motor (keeping all original parts obviously) and that's the manifold I'm going with.

We did a test and it should clear my hood just fine....

Tony has Vortec heads....sets the manifold up a bit. I don't think a Air Gap will fit his application. Phil

Something I have decided to do is install 1/2" body bushings in lieu of the stock shims. This may give me a little more hood room.
Sure would like to use the Air Gap intake.

Add a TPIS Miniram EFI unit, controlled by Acell DFI computer. You will love the performance, drive ability, and fuel economy.

I am going through an engine change as we speak. I went ZZ4 instead of 383. I will post pics in a few days when we have it put back together.

Carb pad measurements on a stock L79 manifold, which should be the same as your 327/365, are 3.75 front, 4.75 back. The stated numbers on the Edelbrock site for the RPM Air-Gap, whether Vortec or not, are 4.20 front, 5.25 back. Maybe you want to double check your measurements. Just trying to help.

Appreciate your looking out for me.

Either "Super Chevy" or Chevy Hi Performance" magazine did a manifold comparision test about three issues ago. All the latest from "today's world and one from "yesteryear". The shop doing my work has the magazine right now.

The "yesteryear" manifold was my exact manifold, off an L76 motor.
The measurements were less than 1/10th of an inch than the air gap. This is where I got the idea for using this manifold.

I followed that up with a call to Edelbrock and they told me they've used this manifold on other small block mid years with no problem. I then told them I would be using AFR heads and they said they still thought I should be all right. Followed that up with a call to AFR, same results.

Worst case scenario I would go with a Wieland Stealth.

I purchased a used ZZ383 to go in my 64 last week. It already had a Air Gap but I purchased a Weiand #8121. I just did not want to deal with hood clearance issues. At least 2 people have made them work but many reports of the Air Gap being too tall. There are also Dyno reports of ZZ383's using the 8121 with good numbers. As stated above, the Air Gap is 4.2" F and 5.25" R. The Wieand 8121 is 3.5" F and 4.5 R.

Sounds like a few of us will have ZZ383's this spring.
