QUESTION: is the wiring in my steering column shot??? "ITS BRAND NEW!!" or is the ground loose somewhere??
I took my 66 vert out tonight for a lesurely cruise and notice some clicking in the "hub" of the steering column...the turn signals worked but i had to hold the turn signal down to make them work...not to soon after that a fellow pulls up along side of me and said my FLASHERS were on..i thought "HUH"..my car is not set up for a flasher..
I no there will be some bugs to work out after a frame off so any and all comments are accepted about this electrical problem.

I take it you had your steering column apart? When I hooked the wires in the steering column back up to the wiring connector I managed to mix them up a bit. It led to some interesting electrical problems.
I'd check and make sure that the wires in the harness connector match up to the wires in the steering column connector, i.e. green to green, blue to blue, etc.

Jack, given the clicking noise you describe, I would pull the steering wheel (not a big deal with a puller) and give the turn signal cancelling cam, bearing, and switch a good look. It is part of the turn signal switch and you may have a busted part in there. You did not mention if your turn signal switch is new or not but while you are in there check the wires carefully for cracks or shorts. It is real easy to pinch and short the turn signal wires when reinstalling the column even with a new switch. Also check the connector at the bottom of the column to be sure the all the pins are making good contact and none have pulled away from the connectors. Pilot Dan

All wiring is new...new cancel cam was installed at the time when i hadthe column and dash apart...I will pull the steering will and see what i can see....
Thanks to Gus at CC...i called him and told him my problem and what the lights were doing and he diagnosed it over the phone...
There was a plastic post that was broken beneath the canceling arm and allowed the contacts to touch and therefore i had flashing lights on the rear...so now i need to buy a new one and put it in....
