when the car sits... (even for days/weeks/months etc.) the battery stays fully charged.... cranks the car like crazy... runs everything.. just fine...
car never dies, but when I shut it off, and go to restart... it struggles...
i immediatly thought it was the alternator or voltage regulator... both test perfect...
so i try a different battery... no issues...
i put the suspect battery in both of my other cars... and have the same issue....
so obviously, my battery is the problem... but can anyone tell me exactly what is happening?
Why does it charge itself back up when the motor is not running, but when it runs...even with the aid of the alternator, it won't restart the car unless it sits for a period of time...
I"M positive it isn't a starter heat soak issue as i only have the trouble with this battery...

I have had weak batteries that will start a cold car but will struggle to re-start a car that has already been driven. Heat soak on the starter is often blamed when it's the battery all along.
Modern battery have very tightly stacked plates and will short out between them. That often happens when the temperature gets up, when it is running and charging. That is the exact symptom.
I had the same problem, I replaced the battery then the starter, and finally both cables.. Nothing improved the situation, untill I replaced the cables... They looked fine, but inside the crimped ends the connection was not good enough for high draw starts, like when the starter gets warm...
Hi
Here in Denmark where we don`t drive in winter(Nov-march)is the best choice a Odyssey battery.Storage life is 2 years before needing charge(with 77F).End of life:Battery slowly loses power at end of life; no catastrophic failure. Its a dry cell battery with a normal life in about 10 years.
Just an idea, regards Jorn
