OK, does anyone remember if Chevrolet actually had/used a Stingray (like the sea animal) logo? Seems to me if such an animal exists, someone in this forum would have a copy.
JC Whitney once offered a gearshift **** design of a stingray (fish) profile from above with the tail curling around. If you can get a 1967 Plymouth catalog or ad ("Plymouth's out to win you over"), you'll see a very similar "angel/devil" logo, a heart with a devil tail.

Yeah they did. It was used on the Manta Ray concept car. And even though the concept was a manta ray, the actual fish used on the emblem was a sting ray. (You didn't specify a production model.)

Wow, that's exactly what I was looking for...I had heard Chevy put a stingray logo on the 1969 Manta Ray Concept Car, but couldn't find any reference for it.

Here's the pics you wanted to see.
Actually, when you look up close, it is more of a manta ray than sting ray, but with a sting ray tail (or a speed line ). Not nearly as "stylized" as the Sting Ray concept car, but more real world.

Here is the one off the 1959 racer taken at Pebble Beach this year
This is BOGUS! Some wet-behind-the-ears GM employee, who thinks C3s are the oldest production 'Vettes, made this emblem up in the last few years. The tip-off is he/she misspelled the name. The rebodied '57 SS chassis/dream car has ALWAYS been known as the
Sting Ray, two words.
I think the logo's a lot older than a few years - it's on the car in photographs from the 60's and 70's:
As you say the logo is one word, but the car is the Sting Ray.
There stingray symbol was reproduced by a company (who no longer seem to be in business) a few years ago, but they're available on Ebay occasionally:
