Default rear spring install ???

installing rear spring on 67, do you snug bolts up and then lower car and with weight of car on springs do final torque or do you just torque bolts while wheels off ground?? thanks.

Wait to tighten the bolts that secure the spring to the differential cover, until after the weight is on the wheels.

What if a person tightened them and drove the car first??

Can a you go back and fix it?
Will it screw up your alignment?

Go back and fix it? Not sure what you mean there. The reasons for torquing the bolts after the weight is on the spring is to have the spring as flat as possible. With the car in the air, the spring is arched so you don't get an accurate torque reading, and there is a possibility of cracking the carrier. Check the torque with the car on the ground and make sure it is correct. The spring does not affect the alignment.

You can set the rear wheels down on some steel rims and still have enough room to torque the 4 bolts that hold the spring on!

If it didn't crack the carrier then it's OK. I did it backwards many years ago before I knew better.
