Ive got a BW T-10 in a 64 Nova that I might replace for a new 5-speed and was curious as to what it might be worth.I believe its got a 2-20 first gear ratio but dont know much about transmissions so I could be wrong on that.I do know the cars got 308 gears in the rear and taking off from a stop you really have to work the clutch to get the car moving.Soon Im going to have the rearend rebuilt thinking a gear change would help but maybe not with this trans. It tachs out at about 2200 doing a little over 60.This trans was purchased new over the counter years ago and has a build date of 4-62 I believe. The trans was gone through before it went in the car and has all new bearings, seals.Had planned on replacing the syncros but wasnt needed.Heres a pictures, doesnt tell much.[IMG][/IMG]
If you can post the stamping # on the case at the rear of the side cover people can tell exactly when it was made. My guess on a 62 T10 is $250-$750 depending on inspected condition and if you are buying or selling.

Thinking about selling, this transmission has been rebuilt. The only reason Im thinking about selling it is because the first gear ratio is too high.I thought replacing the gears in the rear but that wont help me.Changing the first gear ratio in this trans is an option as well.[IMG][/IMG]
The problem with the T-10 is that the Muncie is far superior and parts availability for the Warner is somewhat limited. Most people will opt for the Super T-10 with its 26 splined input and massive 31 splined output (a la the TH 400). You can buy them new, as Richmond now owns the design, I believe.
I have rarely seen a T-10 that wasn't in need of a second and third gear replacement, either. If you need the right date code and can find good parts, there would be a need. I think the $250-$750 number is a good one. The T-10 reminds me of the T-5 Ford tranny. A relatively good box but it cannot take a lot of punishment or horsepower.
