EFI tune

Doug
WELL..... to try to make a VERY long story shorter....
when i originally installed it i had a 'tuner' come ride and do a tune. his tune was very streetable but only gave about 15/16 mpg. after fiddling many many many times on my own i came up with one that would give 24+, but it was really too lean and the wideband was doing all the work to sort it out...
so, i figured my cam doesn't start to do its thing at less than 2000, and with my 3.36 rearend and OD trans i needed something that was streetable at lower rpms and yet would seemlessly transition when the engine came up on cam at 2000+ (70mph is about 2200) on the highway. so i took his .ecm and went into the VE table and interpolated his and mine from 1800 up, and then interpolated the A/F table from his max of 14.39 to my 14.71 through the same rpm range. i also bumped my timing up to a max of 32 to 40 range in the same rpm range.
so, at the moment, it seems to be the some of the best of both worlds and driveability seems to be good; but i have a bit of spark knock under light load that the knock sensor has to handle. not sure how to handle that: let the knock sensor do its thing, richen the VE table, or lower the timing.
and, for what it's worth, i found, when a vacuum line hose split that goes to the MAP sensor and it defaults to whatever, that it then has a nasty idle and runs like a scalded dog; and gets 10-11 mpg...
and, at highway speeds, the faster i go, the better the mileage....
Bill
