Default basic date code question

The first letter indicates the month, right? Does the letter A begin in Sept (first month of the model year) or January(first month of the normal year)? thanks

You need to be more specific about the item - but if castings, the date code begins with a letter indicating the month, and in that example, A = Jan

And an "A" on a mid-year trim tag could be August or September (or January) depending on the year and where the body was made (AOS or St Louis).

Provide more info on what you are looking at.
