Default Vacuum attachment to .....???

Hey fellow Vetties,
Today's topic would be the identity of the pictured unknown vacuum nip. It's located under passenger's footies. It didn't have an attached hose when I purchased this fine Orange Falme '76 last year. Possible clue: Whirling the temp. thumb wheel doesn't seem to matter. Though the A/C basically works, there seems to be no discernible difference upon spinning the wheel to bi-level and the other options. Plus, the updated R-134 A/C blows a slight, though cool enough, breeze on my left knee even at high fan. I replaced the fan switch hoping that this would improve the blow velocity (it didn't)....Could this absent vacuum attachment possibly explain my wimpy A/C performance? Do any of you Vette Savants know just where the hose was supposed to go?

As always- Many thanks to this forum!!

I THINK that's a vacuum actuated vent controller to allow fresh air in.

But that's a weak guess.

Update - I searched www.corvette-paragon.com for "vacuum" parts for 1976 corvettes.

Is this your part?

Cripes, it LOOKS like the part indeed, but I'm no authority.
OK, WHERE does the other end of an attached hose go exactly??
Hey, I rightfully re-posted in the C3 section, so I'll be focusing there...but THANKS for your input!
