Plug wire routing
Can anyone help me with routing new spark plug wires? Pictured below is the #1 wire....not sure I have the block clip oriented correctly.
Also there is a clip that attachs to the oil pan....is this just to keep the #1 wire close to the pan and away fromt he exhaust manifold?
Pictures would be a great help (of course).

There is a clip on the pan, but you're missing the "V" shields, aka the "boomerang" shields.
Wires #1 and 3 on the left and #2 and 4 on the right go under/through the boomerang shield.

Yep, that's it.
Also, you have to be careful. Original midyear boomerangs are meant to be used with original motor mounts.
If you have later mounts/locking mounts, you'll need to get the later boomerangs (68 up, as I recall).
If you try to use midyear boomerangs with late motor mounts, you'll have to grind the front of the boomerang where it contacts the mount.
Others can elaborate more.

The front bracket on the V-shield goes under the head of the rear upper motormount-to-block bolt, and the rear bracket mounts common with the rear spark plug heat shield-to-block bolt.

This may help. Note that the clip on the oil pan attaching screw goes near the hump for the dipstick tube on LH side. I believe this is the 5th screw counting from the rear. (The RH side clip is not in the same location -- it is in the 4th screw. Both are located at the apex of the boomerang shielding piece.) As Chuck noted, original boomerangs and replacement motor mounts do not mix.
Note the small black "W" shaped clip in the photo above fitted with the same machine screw that holds the forward plug heat shield. This is a loom for #1 & #3, in this case.

Not trying to steal thread, but to ask a similar question with a twist.....
What does routing look like if you have a 'Radio Delete' vehicle and there is NO shielding?
Thanks in Advance,
RK

The routing is exactly the same, except there are no shields - just uses the clip at the bottom under the oil pan bolt on each side.

Saw your pic of the engine with starter bracket. Can you possibly tell me just about how long that bracket is and part # for a 63 corvette?
