I'm putting an L79 together and the pulleys are not lining up. I bought the water pump and both sets of pulleys from the same vendor. They have triple checked the parts and say I have the right ones. The triple pulley on the balancer appears to be about 3/16 of an inch closer to the motor than the water pump double pulley. The balancer seems to be on correctly. From the dimensions it looks like the correct balancer. It has the number 3817173 on it. Here's the other numbers:
Inner balancer pulley: 3744043
Outer balancer pulley (add on): 3751232
Water pump pulley: 3790356CH
Water pump : 3859326
The reason for this pulley set up is to eventually have AC and PS. Are there any spacers available to line things up? Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated.

Yes there are spacers available....... for sure jegs has them.
Is that 3790356CH a deep, two groove water pump pulley? If its a 2 groove, it may be the problem.
The #3770245 W/P pulley is listed in my GM parts manual as applying to 63-68 327's with special high performance engines (L-79), including those with fuel injection. It is a 7-1/8" O.D., 2-deep groove pulley.
Are you sure that you have the correct balancer pulley too? I show it as being a deep, double groove pulley, p/n 3858533, but the "232" add on pulley does not work with the '533' pulley, and it isn't needed for power steering anyway. I believe the L-79 P/S pulley should be a three spoke cast iron pulley, p/n 3834720.

If you have correct pulleys, there is no need for bubba spacers.
The guys at Long Island Corvette are pretty good when it comes to putting together a set of pulleys when you are trying to add these kind of options, give them a call and compare notes with what you have.

STRONGLY suggest you search for a post by CF member "subfixer" on the proper mix of parts for an SHP (the L76 and L79) with PS and AC. It's very easy to get it wrong and end up with pulley misalignment issues.
Yes, the water pump pulley is very close to the pump casing.
Here are the correct pulleys for a 65 L79 (350hp) with N40 (PS) and C60 (AC) from the LICS catalog. http://www.licorvette.com/catalog23.htm
Crank Pulley: Section 24 part 28E
Add-on crank pulley for PS: Section 24 part 28G
PS Pump pulley: Section 23 part 27A
Waterpump: Section 24 part 27C
Alternator pulley: Section 23 part 02G
In reference to your waterpump pulley issue, there is only one pulley that will fit correctly with PS and AC and it's not very cheap.
That's the setup I used on mine with all the accessories in their stock positions. Everything fit the way GM designed it.
The very friendly people at Volunteer Vette cross referenced the part numbers that you supplied for LI Corvette. The parts I got from them are EN65B, EN65G, and EN60A. They think they are the same. Do you know the GM numbers? I'm stumped.
I believe these GM part numbers may be correct for a L79, AC and Power Steering, note that they are all entirely different from a non-A/C L-79 car. I would certainly call the Vol Vettes or LICS and discuss with them as well.
W/P- 3890419
Crank (2 groove) - 3850838
Crank (PS) - 3751232
P/S - 3770509 (Stamped steel pulley, not the cast iron one).
Alt- 3846180
Thanks for the GM numbers. LI Corvette is not very helpful, but Adam at Volunteer is doing some research for me. I'll pass on the GM numbers but the AIM is not very helpful and these numbers changed or were superceded from time to time making it a mystery. The more posts I read, the more confused I get. I think I've seen about 25 pulleys mentioned. Thanks again.

Steve, I'm not real surprised that you didn't get great help at LIC. Maybe they will read this and try to start having a little better Customer Service. Good to hear that Volunteer is trying to help you out. I think that I may have to start looking to Volunteer for my parts. I've been hearing lots of good things about them lately here on the forum. I guess we can talk about both these vendors since they are both supporting vendors..
Volunteer Vette really helped with getting all the correct parts for me.
I'm looking around to see if I can find all the parts I used.
Just found my old thread.... same one Scott quoted above with the LICS numbers.
I'm not an expert on Corvettes. I know alot about the 65's but not every little detail, so when I call a vendor, I appreciate a helpful person that appreciates my business. I'm finding Volunteer Vette very good in the customer service department. They are trying to solve my issue and Joe Randolf has offered his help too. I'd love to have a list of the pulleys that you used too. I think yours is a 66, but it seems that I need to look at 66/67 to solve my problem as the PS and AC was pretty rare in 65's. Thanks!
