I just got my vents back from Charlie Santarelli. They look brand new.He does great work, What's the trick in re-installing them. Speciffically how to you align them properly? Left side went in fine. Window cranks smoothly so I put the panel back on. Now when I close the door the gaps aren't right. On the right side, I can't seem to keep the window in the track. Do you tighten the bottom stud before or after the top? They sure came off easy enough. I dread taking that panel off again.
Unfortunately the panels should not go on before the tracks and channels along with the vent assembly are checked for fit. The procedure is outlined in the Service manual, but is long. Basically loosen up all the mounting bolts just enough to move things around. You may have to shim at one point. Check your overall door gap front and back. This should be the starting point for everything to fit properly. Hope this helps. Dennis
Wll the temperature finally got above 40 so I got back to installing the vents. The drivers side is acceptable. It's not perfect. The window binds slightly at the top. The passenger side is another story. I must have spent about 3 hours on it. The window binds prettty good, almost make a grinding sound toward the top. I've loosened everything several times, tried to re-position the frame. It's very frustrating. I might just need another set of hands. Maybe if I get a neighbor to hold the frame while I crank and tighten. I guess maybe this is why they make beer.
