Ok. Here we go. Let's say that I recently came across a nice '61, 2nd owner, frame on resto some fifteen years ago. 4-speed, BASE MOTOR car. Car has been examined and everything is up to snuff.
Let's say for the sake of argument that we are both satisfied with a price of $50,000 and that for argument's sake, this price is the prevailing market $$ for this car.
If this were a 245 hp car what kind of premium could one reasonably expect over the base engine?
Second, if it was a 270 hp car what premium, again, would that carry over the base engine?
Disregard FI, as I am not interested in a car with that option.
Hi Dan,
My 2006 collector car price guide says 25% & 35% respectively.
Thiis means a 40K car would go to 50K and 55K. Seems a little steep but not totally of of line. It would cost the better part of 10 grand to upgrade one.
If it were me I'd figure +5K and +8K, but what do I know too?
