Default AC condensor issue.

I have the following issue.
I am doing a frame-off on my originally 327 factory AC car.
Which has now a 396 BB, I bought a new 396 aluminium radiator and core support (old one was rotten).
I also got a new AC condensor (65) which does not fit the 396 core support since the opening is wider.

Would a 66 AC condenser fit a 396 core support or is the only way to go to modify the 65 AC condensor side brackets?
Or could I replace the side brackets with 66/67 condensor side brackets? Are these sold seperatly?

Since your car is not original anyway you might consider using a more efficient late model condenser. When I rebuilt the factory AC in my '65 I used a cross-flow condenser from a 2000 Dodge midsized car. That condenser was slightly wider than the original but still fit in front of my small block radiator support. As luck would have it the wider width of that condenser should work just about perfectly with your BB support.

The cross-flow design of that condenser is much more efficient than the original. If you are going to use R-12 it may not make a big difference to your AC system but, if you are converting to R-134a, the extra efficiency will help keep your outlet air temperatures low even at idle.
