Can anybody fill me in on how the clock bezel on a mid-year attaches to the clock? There are three sets of two pins that mate with the clock, but it seems to be nothing more that a press fit. The bezel is still very loose and prone to dropping off with hard acceleration. Does the clock housing have to be opened and the pins peened to hold it tight?
I just restored a 63 cluster, gauges and clock. I had the same problem as you with the clock bezel. Chances are the 3 pairs of pins in the bezel have lost their holding capability.
Yes you have to disassemble the clock to do this. I removed the bezel and carefully drilled 3 holes between the pins at each location, and installed a tiny self tapping screw in each. Sound like alot of work but I tried epoxy and it didn't hold up.
