Default C1 soft top catch ?

On my ‘59 (and other C1s) the catch assembly that latches the soft top lid has two vertically slotted tabs at the rear. I am in the process of putting a roll cage in the ’59 and need to delete these tabs so I can move the harness bar behind the seats as far forward as possible. Just wondering what the original purpose of these slots/tabs was?

I believe they are mounting points for the power top limits.

Yep, and I eliminated mine a long time ago. Always looked like something was missing, and an easy spot to catch myself and do some "extra" bleeding.

That's for the top compartment lid safety switch on a power top car - here's what it looked like originally.

Thanks guys. I should have known that seeing as how my '59 came with a power top, but in my defense, all the power top parts were in boxes.
