Default another 60 decoding

I have a 60 corvette, with a 400 turbo auto that I'm changing back to the four speed it was born with. The differential has markings of 3725899 J191 . Any idea what this rear end is? My interchange book only goes to 65. I would assume its a automatic rear end. Thanks

You will need to get the stamped (not cast) code that is on the passenger side of the housing to determine what it was originally used with. Since it is stamped you may need to do some scrubbing to be able to read it.

The 3725899 is the casting number, and the J191 is the casting date, which is October 19, 1961. Therefore, it is from a '62 model.

Thanks for the tip 1cool60 I was under the mistaken impression that all the numbers were on the drivers side. The number on the passenger side is AB 1111 but I still can't find that in any of my books.
