I have a 66 coupe with a Newman chassis conversion using 96 suspension. I have been driving and enjoying the car for years but have not hooked up the E brake yet :o. The stock 96 cables and brackets from the rear calipers are in place and I also have the front cable and pulley to connect to the stock 66 E brake handle under the dash. What I need is the mechanical connection between front and rear. Any ideas, pictures, thoughts?
Thanks,
Nick
This may not help but I'll tell you what I did with my 81 just in case.
I used a later (70's) ebrake wheel which I welded to the frame and then I used a set of Lokar cut-to-length ebrake cables. I also made a stainless steel backed mounting plate for the cables and mounted it through the floor. Brake works better then any C2 or C3 I've ever had.
Joe,
Thanks for the reply. What year is your suspension? Do the Lokar cables attach directly to the calipers? Mine have about 2 ft of hard rubber/plastic sheathing and 4" of bare cable with a barrel fitting swaged to the ends. Did you use any kind of mechanical advantage (lever, fulcrum) under the car? Is this what you used....... http://www.lokar.com/interior_pages/...bles_black.jpg
