Default High Torque Starter

I purchased a Quick Time bell housing for the new 383 engine / Tremec TKO600 conversion I'm doing to my 65 coupe. It appears to be a very high quality bell housing for someone wanting a scattershield bell housing.

Now my dilema, The Quick Time distributor I purchased it from sold me the wrong one (# RM-6036). The one he sold me is for an LS engine with a Tremec TKO600 instead of a Pre-LS engine. I contacted the distributor who said it should be fine. I didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling I was hoping for after talking to him, so I emailed Quick Time direct last night at 9:30pm and to my suprise I had an email at 5:30 this morning that was sent at 11:30 pm last night.
This is what the Quick Time President said.

"You should have gotten a RM-6022. The RM-6036 will work with a couple of footnotes. You will have to use a high torque starter because the LS engines use a smaller barrel starter and the bolt kit we send with the RM-6036 has 10MM bolts. You will need 3/8"-16 bolts. Other than that they are the same bells and it will work. We will exchange you if you wish. Thanks for your interest in QuickTime products."

Thank you,

I already have the bell housing installed and it fits fine against the engine block, so I would have to take it off and send it back and that would set me back a week which at this time of year isn't the end of the world but still a PIA.

Let me clariify something. The engine is not in the car yet it's on a stand and I plan on installing the engine and tranny as a single unit.

I don't know if I'm concerned for nothing and I should just get a HT starter and be done with it.

If I was to keep it is there a HT starter you guys would recommend for a 168 tooth flywheel.
I'm in a quandry and don't know which direction I should go.

Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark! I've used these two GM HT mini-starters over the past 10 years on my ZZ4 and both worked fine. Part # 12361146 & 12363128. I changed it out when I put in my TKO600 last year. Here are links:

I'd send it back and get the right one so you don't have a mish-mash of oddball parts and fasteners; if your starter goes belly-up sometime down the road, ordinary Delco starters are available anywhere.
