Default Installing Intake Manifold

Is it necessary to put a thin layer of Permatex on the intake manifold and head surfaces in addition to the intake manifold gaskets?

Thanks and remember to say thanks to a Vet

That will make it a nightmare to ever get off

One of the most important things is the quality of the sealant. If you want to use good stuff that can make the difference between a good seal and no seal get either GM white, Toyota black (my favorite), or I believe that it is Honda that has an orange that is also good. If you are determined to use Permatex then only use the ones that have "ULTRA" written on the tube.

Or you can do a search on intake swap....... remember to seal the inside bolts or they will suck oil up and into the cylinders .

Good luck

Normally, intake gaskets only need sealer at the corners where they meet the block / head corners. But I run a thin bead of sealer around each water port as insurance, and then down to each of the above corners. The head and intake air/fuel ports do not need sealer.

Put a sealer on the intake bolts, or oil will wick up the bolt threads and pool on the intake low depressions around the bolts.
