Head Gasket Question
This is probably a dumb question but does this look like the right gasket?
327 block with 461 heads.
You can see the brown on the gasket where the water jackets in the head were. My question is why such a small hole in the gasket relative the size of hole in the head?

The size of those holes in the gasket are calibrated per OEM specs to provide the proper flow restriction for the application; lots cheaper than changing the size of the holes in the block and head castings. The intake port side of the heads require a lot less coolant volume/flow than the exhaust port side.
