Does anyone make an "accurate" temperature sending unit? I'm referring to the probe that screws into the intake or heads on some big blocks.

I'm assuming you're asking about a C2. No difference from small block to big block. Lots of good info here:

Pretty much a crap shoot. The one that I bought that was right on the money was a Wells at Auto Zone. I think they call it Duralast now,which is the store brand name. I think I paid less than 10 bucks for it,cheap enough to give it a try.

Mary Jo sells old Delco gauge senders of the 60s-early 70s for about $40.. They can be identified by the short stem and dimpled bottom.

ecklers #44707......i have been using these for years and they are dead on compared with my engine thermometer.....

I bought a replacement from Autozone (Wells T5 now Duaralast) and it doesn't even register on the guage. I tested it and it sweeps fully on the car but when I drove it, it didn't move. I was told that the calibration is inaccurate.
