Default Wcfb question

the secondary throttle lever dosn't want to return to the closed position when engine is running and the secondaies are kicked in -i can manually push on the lever and it returns - if the engine is off it returns all the time -this seems to only happen when it is running - i have adjusted the secondary throttle lever clearance as per the manual at .020- but it still hangs up a little and idles rough untill i push on the secondary lever then it smooths out - should i give it less clearance?

If the base plate on the carb or the manifold mounting surface(including gaskets, spacers etc) is not absolutely flat, then you will warp the base when you tighten it down and cause the secondary shaft to bind. Try losening the nuts so they're barely tight and see it the secondary returns to closed. If so, just tighten them to spec., don't crank them down.

The only thing different when the engine is running is heat and vacuum...you may have just enough of a bind that these differences cause it to show up when the car is running.

You may try tweaking the clearance some to see if it helps, if not, and you can't figure it out you can send just the base off to Bob Kunz (THE WCFB guy)...I can give you his contact info if that's what you decide to do.

He had to put a brand new primary throttle shaft ***'y in my rear WCFB last month....about a week turn around....
