Default Quick Steering

I am trying to get info on the Quick Steering mod for a C1. From what I have found out it was used on track cars. Is it a easy install and does anyone have it on their car. Thanks Greg

Thanks Bill
I am just curious about it. I don't want to install one. I am more interested in the design, install and performance aspect. Thanks Greg

I have one on the 56. And I have 225/75R15 inflated to 32-33psi on 15x6 steel wheels up front.
It is an ultra simple bolt-on, and when installed, an alignment will have to be done.
To install the adapter, the L&R tierods are seperated from the center steering arm, the adapter is installed onto the steering arm and the tierods are attached to the adapter. The fast steering adapter simply increases the length of the center steering arm, which of course, as already mentioned, will also increase steering effort at a stop or very low speeds.
I've had the adapter on the 56 since about 1974, I'm 66 now----------------and I ain't takin' it off!
Most likely, for you wennies who are spoiled by pwr steering, you won't like it in town.
The fast steering adapters are sold by the Vette vendors (CC, Paragon, etc) for about $125.

the fast steering adapter is a U-bolt and a piece of plate; you can make your own for about $10.

I believe that Frank Burrell designed the fast steering adapter. Frank was a graduate engineer and worked his way through college working in a salvage yard. According to a friend of his, he never left the salvage yard. He was a key engineer and lead mechanic on the 56 Sebring program. I have some of his initial sketches for some of his improvisions plus the final GM blueprints. I also have a T-10 overdrive transmission he built. I have the adapter on several cars. The one that steers the hardest is the Bob McLean SR-2, it has a 15" wooden steering wheel. Tom has no problem though as he and Janet had significant wheel spin in all four gears!!!
