Default Insurance value

What would you think a fair value of my car for insurance
purposes? 67 BB NOM 427/390 from a 68 rear and trans also
not original. Definately an original BB as confirmed by Tony's
corvettes of Md. I rebuilt the motor and front suspension,
everything except headlight motors. I just finished the rear
end rebuild. Just want some opinions on value, thanks in advance.
I forgot to mention it is an originally black car.

Default Hello

Very nice 67 BB

I think you could get between 85k to 100k.

have Tony do the appraisal since you say he confirmed it was originally a BB - he has to have an idea on the value - but, would venture to say $85,000 - $90,000 is what you should have the car insured for

BTW - Tony restored my 1963 Z06

shemp... nice car! I would say $90K - $100K. But make sure it is "agreed value" from your Insurance Co.

Thanks, That was about where I figured. I just edited
my post as I forgot to say it is an originally black car.
That may bump it up to the higher price.

Default Great if you can get it ,,,

Not to be a spoil sport, but I'm thinking the value range suggested by mid-year enthusiasts here on the CF might diverge just a little from the range suggested by auto insurance underwriters. I insured my newly purchased all correct L76 for market value three months ago, but only with a slam bang written appraisal, and in person inspection by my agent. Even then it took some aggitating on my part to get the thing approved. Values have dropped. That does not mean you can get a seller to acknowledge that his car may have lost some value recently, but insurers will only cover for real market value now, not what these things may have been worth two-three years ago.

I spoke w/ Erie Insurance yesterday and they are sending an
appraiser out next week. I will let you know what they come
up with.

I don't know the value but that is a very nice looking car. I'm sure you put a ton of hours into it. Greg

I'll bet dollars to donuts that the insurance company's appraiser will offer up a valuation considerably lower than what a classic car (corvette?) appraiser would assign to the car....
just my guess

p.s. all the guy has to do is find some apparent comparables (perhaps no sale big blocks on eBay, or BJ) that sold (or did not sell) in the $50-70K range, and there is your "current" value,,,,

When I first insured my 67 with Hagerty in 2001, the insured value was a few thousand over purchase price. The next 2 years they increased the value upon renewal but after that I didn't think that they were keeping up with the market. Plus, I had made appearance improvements to the car, got a NCRS Top Flight, so I bumped it up on my own and Hagerty didn't object, as they also increased the premium. I now have it valued at 70k for $505 per year. My point is that you should be able to set your own value (within reason) and pay the appropriate premium.
