Hi everyone nreed help on a hard top question - Are all c2 hard tops interchangeable and if not what should i look for - i just purchased a 67 vert ,my brother has a hard top which he will give to me - but he is concerned it may not fit and will damage the paint on my car when i try to use it
Been there done that! It still made marks on my deck lid. We just took my hardtop of last month. . . YUK! Even though I had the bolts snug the top it still left marks in the paint!

the Hardtop mark of honor, ill bet many of the first time owners wish that had that mark with the top to go with it.......
...a tough look to beat with the Hardtop on....besides the mark is almost invisible....

knock on wood... i haven't had that problem and my top was on for many miles/years before i took it off to be refurbished by Glassworks (and that is another story.... ).
the ones sold by the usual vendors are a bit thin, and often in 2 pieces. i bought a piece of convertible top rear window material and made my own thicker 1-piece protector for both the convertible top and the hardtop by using the thin ones as patterns.

Now there's a darn good idea...I bet the thicker ones are easier to apply to the deck too.
Handling those thin ones are like putting Gladwrap over a bowl of leftover potato salad - which no man should ever attempt....
I finally found a picture that covers the area where both tops rest on the deck. Both of them with there original weather stripping actually dont leave any marks on the deck. Just dont install the hardtop if the weather strip is suspect without first refreshing the rubber.
if necessary for the rubber Willcox is right there helping, i didn`t see anyone else offer information or jump in.
.see, invisible...

It’s way late for me to do this now! Red has been branded just as Wally said! My hardtop has the original weatherstrip and it is in great shape! Maybe I had the bolts to tight, but the marks were there when I pulled it off the last time ten times. Heck I'm not worried about it, I used to drive it every chance I got but now not so often. . .But when you drive them . . . it happens!
The new ones. . . Well there is no other way to put it. . . They SUC@
The one that I have the most fun with is the one for the conv. top!
You put it on before you drop the drop the top, you flip the top up and it’s all over the place, you flip the top down and it’s all over the place . . . and the last trick of all is you flip the top up and it fly’s off the car! Good riddance!
