Default Little ball at end of parking brake cable on '65

I'm replacing my trailing arms and some other related parts. I got some new parking brake cable rubber boots but don't see a way to get them on without taking off the cable stop ball at the end parking brake cable. It doesn't like like it's something I can do with hand tools (take it off and put it back on) but I'd though I'd ask. Is there an easy way to get ball off and on or somehow get the boot to slide over it?

The "ball" DOES NOT COME OFF...have you tried to lube the rubber boot with some lithium grease or axle grease?
It is a tight fit but you should get it on with a little lube and effort

Thanks. I haven't tried to really coerce the boot on. I'll try some type of lube.

I agree with Jack... some silicone spray or even WD-40 should do the trick...

Good luck... GUSTO

I would use a liquid soap. It will not affect the rubber like petrolium products can, and will wash off. Or, some silicon grease, which you could leave on to lubricate.
