on a 62. It is on the truck to be delivered to me hopefully by Friday. It is a soft top only car, and here is a soft top question. This is all new to me since my last 62 was a hard top only. To raise the soft top I had to pull the seats up, because the frame for the soft top was right up against the seats. I noticed damage to the seat covers from the frame. Is it normal for the frame to be in contact with the seats if they are pushed back ?

The seat backs (when all the way back) should be close but hopefully not touch the top. Sometimes its the top frame and sometimes you can finagle the seats in their tracks to get them clear of the top.
The problem is if you adjust the frame too far back to clear the seats then you have problems clearing the open deck lid latch when you raise/lower the top. Sometimes you just have to put up with it. I carry a small piece of cardboard to protect the driver's side seat back cover when the top is down as it just barely touches.

Thanks, I'll do something along those lines then. I also think I read here somewhere to put a towel under the back window?
Guy
Use either the top pillow made for this (which I recommend): http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...1&dept_id=1615 or use a completely white, very soft (microfiber if you can find it) beach towel. Any color in a towel can transfer to the top if its a non-black top it can be permanent. Also there should be felt on top of the gas tank lid in the top storage compartment make sure it is CLEAN and there is no grit in it when lowering the top as the plastic window sits on this.
Thanks! Hopefully I'll be riding around in her this weekend. But I do think I'll have to take up weightlifting, I don't remember it be that hard to steer 25 yrs ago!

Thanks Frank, I think I'll get me one of those. I'll also check the compartment, but if I remember correctly it is bare in there.

Jerry Brewster down in Bastrop, LA used to deal in a lot of early Corvettes. Just wondering if he's still in business down that way, would you know? Used to pick up a few spare parts from him on occasion when I lived in Vicksburg, MS.
