I HAD A BB SHORT BLOCK SHIPPED FROM TEXAS TO MY HOME IN NC LAST SUMMER. THE SELLER JUST SHOPPED THE TRUCKING COMPANIES FOR THE BEST PRICE AND WHO HAD A TERMINAL CLOSE TO ME. I PICKED IT UP AT THEIR TERMINAL AND IT SAVED SOME $. THEY LOADED IT FOR ME.
Go to www.freightquote.com Ive used them several times for shipping engine blocks and other large items. Wrap the block in saran wrap and then strap it to a wood pallet. If you drop it off at the terminal its even cheaper.
I am looking for recommendations on who to use to ship a bare block strapped to a pallet, as well as actual prices paid for this service.
Thanks
Joel
(by memory) I used a company called Engines Direct twice in the last year. Shipped from east coast to Tulsa, door to door. One was complete short block, other was complete motor. Cost was approximately $250.00. I believe they were from Arizona. I have the information at the office.
Regards
I thought engines direct only sold engines. I bought a 4.6L engine from them last January and they used freightcenter.com or freightquote as well. Maybe we are talking about two different companies.

I also recommend the insurance... costs a bit more for stated value, but we have had issues with shipping, and without it you are out-a luck.

Amen to that
Couple of years ago I shipped a bike motor via Roadway Express to Ultima Motors in St. Louis however the driver failed to get the receiving company to sign for it when he delivered the motor to them.
They tried to deny that they ever got the motor until I filed a claim with the shipping insurance company I had taken a policy out with. Somehow and for some reason shortly after the insurance investigators started to make an enquiry into the missing motor it miraculously appeared.
