Congratulations on a slick fix. I just brought home a 65 Coupe. Unfortunately I just found the same problem. Shame on me for not knowing how to check for this better before I bought the car.
So now I'm going to be doing much the same as you. Do you have any pictures of where you had to actually weld? It's not clear to me how/where the welding will need to be done and how not to burn up the fiberglass in the process.
I'm also worried that I'll have problems at the top of the frame. Not sure what will be involved fixing this on a coupe.

Whiplash, on post 2 from Count is the phone number of the company I bought the part from, post 3 from John Z is a picture of the parts breakdown. We did 3/16 plug welds on each side (6 per side) plus welded the seam. below is a pic of the rt side.
I have not had to deal with the top area, on a coupe, it may involve (partially lifting the top) to get some seperation from the metal to glass when welding. they have come light years in bonding adhesive's, some manufacters are using them to bond roof skins etc, But I would think it would need some welding due to the roll over protection.
A very knowledgeable person you may check with is John McGraw.
