Default How many "Ghosts of Carlisle" do you know???

Corvette Carlisle is just around the corner and it is that time to start packing. I thought it would be fun to try to remember the guys that have a lot of gray hair, some none at all, or regretfully are no longer with us that have made this trip to Carlisle as a vendor. Virginia Vettes has made this trip between 120-130 times which is not a record but explains how the trailer knows where it is going.
We all have been through rain, floods, mud, hot sun, tornado’s, and even a shooting, yet we still come back to the best Corvette show in the world.
The following is a list of the “Ghosts of Carlisle”. Some we know by first name only, all we have known for 25 years or more. This list in not fully inclusive, please accept our apology if you were left off, or miss spelled your name, please add to it as you see fit.

Dick: The trick to mastering Big Smokie is to bite off both ends immediately. This keeps him from reassembly in the innards.

On your ghosts list you can add Curt Eldridge from Indiana. Haven't seen him or heard from him in at least four years now. Used to be at the end of J Row.

Jay and Jean are the t-shirt couple from SC. They didn't make Corvette Carlisle last year but they were at Old Town. Larry was Legendary Corvette, he's out of the business and I understand that his health is bad. How about adding Bill & Glenn from Corvette Cosmetics? Also Joe from Contes Corvettes and Jill from Dr. Vette.

The first few years the harness racers were still running the race track. That might have actually been before the advent of Corvettes Carlisle. J row was actually Corvette row, and you could go off into the outer reaches and buy deals from non Corvette people. Then take them out on J row and sell the stuff before walking too far. Off for another excursion. Payed for many a trip that way.

Bud Gentile appears on this list. Sad to say that he passed away on April 25, 2009. RIP Bud.

Chuck is a very close friend of mine, and he is from NY, not WI. We often travel to shows together, and set up together at Carlisle.

I will PM you his phone number and email shortly, but I believe he and his wife are on a cruise this week, so he may not get right back to you.

It was an acquaintance in Toronto here that told me he was the parts Guru and goes to Carlisle for umpteen years and remember his name but he couldn't remember the state, buddy remember the name and I think this guy goes down there quite often also and I happen to be going this year, so maybe I can snag something from him, thank you

Glenn, does he set up on J Row, next to Chuck Ryan of Vette Wrecks?

Me, I think I last went in 2008! That is the first time I found absolutely nothing of true interest or at a decent price at the swap meet. Therefore no longer thought it was worth the trip from California!
