Default Does Size Matter?

I just got a '67 roadster from a fellow forum member. It has a ZZ crate 350. It has the 427 hood on the car so you know what I am thinking! Now here is the question: Small block 427 (pricey) and transplant a lot of the current parts or transform the car to a big block 427? I want more power but I also want to make the transition as easy as possible. The car is originally a small block, now with power steering and vintage air. I am not trying to go correct on the car but thought it would neat to have a "427" under the hood and emblems on the stinger! I like to drive the car frequently so driveability is an issue. I am not going to race the car but I sure like the feel of acceleration 0-100! I guess the real question is what would you do? (And keeping the perfectly good 350 is not an option)

Why not go with a 427 SB that's the best of both worlds, small size, big HP and CI and you get to reuse all the brackets from the 350.

I agree....Biggest bang for the buck. Pace Performance out of Niles, Ohio still has a great price on the GM 454 - 425hp at $5400.00.

The 454 crate is not a good deal IMHO.

New brackets, new flywheel, new intake, new air cleaner, new exhaust (with manifolds or headers), etc ...

New 427 small block and use the majority of your stuff, priceless.

*Disclaimer* This is coming from someone who likes big blocks.

If you want I bigblock, you probably already bought the wrong car, you should have bought A BB to begin with.

I didn't want to pay the big block price but I see your point. I think that it will be easier to keep it a small block and have a 427. In the long run I think that it will be cheaper. Thanks for the input and I will post pictures as it is completed.
