I'm over here in the middle east (can't tell you where or why ) and I'm working on a little pet project for my C5 back home.
I'm doing a retro shifter for my A4 tranny (including shifter plate by others) and I need some help on the dimensions of the T-handle reverse lockout slide off a 64-67 C2.
I cannot get the parts into where I am. Can someone please get me the outside and inside diameter (OD and ID) of this T-handle? Also, if possible the lenght of the part. I can't post pictures or I would but I think that pretty well describes it.
But in the meantime, anyone have an answer to my question?? I've got a lot of time to kill over here, (No, Time is not an arabic name) and trying to keep working on something to keep the mind focused...

I can take my 65 apart for you tomorrow.
You need the OD and ID of the T-handle, and also the overall length of the T-handle assembly, correct?

You don't need to know any other dimensions?
You're a gentleman Jeff!
I found I also need the OD of the shaft and the OD/ID of the T-handle. The ID shouldn't be the same as the OD of the shaft as there are some small nylon slider rings inside. If you could also provide me with the lenght of the T-handle would be a help.

I really appreciate ALL the help from the CF! Now if Jeff comes back and tells me the ID of the T-handle is greater than 0.550 inch I'm going to be a real happy guy!!
From a member on the C5 forum: "The main metal shaft tube is 0.550" od with a 0.100 wall thickness. The top 1.5" of the shaft is turned down to 0.492" od and is slotted on both sides 0.177" wide and 1.35" from the top. The main metal shaft tube is 4.8" from the top to the top of the bottom slots for the gate. The center pin shaft that is pushed down by the button is 0.194" od."
I had the T-reverse lockout in my basement from an older project. I don't remember if it was from a '64 or '68 (Probably '64)
Part #'s
Ball '64 or '68 A2131 $15.50
T '64 A2130 $27.99
T '68 A2136 $12.99
You will need to file small stub inside T a little bit. I put loc-tite on thread before screwing Ball on.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your service
George
YES! That is soooo nice.
EXACTLY what I"m going to do, only I'm going to do this to a C5's A4 automatic tranny!!
I found a guy who does the 6 speed shifter plates Ferarri style for the C5's and he's going to do some now for the A4's also. I can't post a picture but you can see the 6 speed plate at:
I believe I have the C5's push unlock vs. the C2's pull unlock solved. Unfortunately, the parts are at home in the US and I'm not and won't be until maybe November. Meantime the guy making the A4 plates will have my new plate waiting for me at home for when I get back.
Thank you everyone for passing on the needed measurements so I can start (mentally) putting this thing together.

Ok, here's what I'm going to do. I'll remove T-handle, take measurements and pictures and post it all later. Don't know how soon it will be, but it will be within the next few hours.

Super. Thank you Jeff. Sorry about all the hassle but I do sincerely appreciate someone stepping to the plate for me on this.
