Is the capacitor on the ammetere for radio noise only or is there another function to it being there? Also, where can i get the small insulator material that goes between the ammeter attaching plate and the terminal clips. When the old one burned up it the heat did a number on mine. What is the material or can I use some other non-conductive material?
The capacitor is part of option U-69, AM/FM radio, and is shown in the AIM.
Sorry, I can't help with the insulating material, not sure exactly where you're referencing, but you might try looking a a cheap FLAPS ammeter, see if it is made similarly and if you might be able to salvage the piece from it.
