Default Lower control stops

Installing new ball joints and I can't remember where on the lower arms the steering stops go. On the back side towards the firewall?.

I don't know what you mean by steering stops. What year is the car?
I just did the ball joints on our '66 and I didn't have any steering stops

Gerry

There is the mount for the anti sway bar that is mounted to the front.

If the bolt that you are speaking of is the one being pointed to in the below picture...

...when installing the new lower ball joints, make sure the bumper stop goes into the front hole.

Good luck... GUSTO

I was wondering why that bolt was like that! However, they don't contact anything on our car at full lock

That's what I needed. Thanks for your help .
Now on to the threaded rod/coil install mystery. With the lower arm hanging the angle is way to big to start the threaded rod in both arms.

I worked on my front end using the threaded rod to compress the spring. I started out with the lower control arm unattached. Didn't try to bolt anything up until the control arm was just about pulled up to its desired location. It worked out quite well.
