I let the '61 idle for about 15-20 seconds then take right off...no 5,500 RPM runs until engine is completely hot though. Have done that with all my cars for decades and never got less than 160,000 miles out of a motor (when I've traded or sold them in running condition) with NO major mechanical problems.
