Adding Shims under the body
Has anyone added shims to their car before? How hard would it be to add shims to a coupe to bring the body up higher. Would you use a couple of jacks on one side at a time to bring the body up high enough to add maybe 3 more for a total of 5 shims? You would have to loosen the bumpers would'nt you? Thanks for any info.

I was wondering the same thing. I just put my 67 body back on after frame off and tremac install. I am thinking about adding 2 more shims per mount for a toatal of six each except one will be 5 as it came with one less. This will give me a little more trans clearance. What does everybody think of doing this??

If your old rubber mounts are worn and compressed, that would be the place to start, then go from there. You can add shims and or replace the mounts one at a time with a good floor jack as needed.

So there is enough flex in the structures to do ONE mount at a time without loosening the others?
I like the idea of raising the body all around, gives a little more clearance after stuff has been sagging for 40+ years.
also for the air cleaner

Loosten up all the bolts on one side at a time and then raise each spot enough to slip in the new mount by removing the corresponding bolt. As I recall when I did mine, about a 1/2 inch off the rubber was all I needed.
