Default 66 Convertible Windshield Install

Gentlemen:

I have read previous strings on installing windshields into convertibles, and I do not understand what this means which was previously posted on Corvette Forum:

The trick to installing conv windshields is to install the lower trim before you install the windshield. This allows the molding to properly catch the inferior aftermarket clips. It also keeps you from denting the molding trying to smack it into place and overcome the gasket and clips. Coupe windshields are much harder to do-no tricks there, just a lot of sweating and swearing.

This was from a posting in September 28, 2006 from Ken Edmunds. How can you pull the rope out with the trim in place?

Default Rope pulls from the inside

the lower molding referred to is the outside (reveal) stainless.

This is definitely the way to go.

It is done all the time. Below is a picture showing my car with the trim installed. If you understand what Ken recommended, you would be wise to follow his advice. I had two clips that I was able to massage to except the trim, there is no way you can do this with the glass installed first. If by a miracle you don't have problem let us know.

Default installing winshield

i have been reading on this from a lot of threads and just came past this one. i have my glass installed in the weatherstrip. should i put the lower trim on first and slide the glass and weather strip down behind it? will it fit ok or this for people who are using the same weatherstrip and then putting glass into it? seems confusing but since it is my first shot, it would be wise to do it the best way.
any other feedback here? did i read this right? push the lower trim in part of the way and then slide everything behind it?
Thanks

I tried it with the lower trim installed but was not comfortable with not being able to seal the bottom gasket as well. The next time I install a windshield i will scallop the gasket so the clips have a relief to open into. JMO..
