little squeeks after putting the cockpit back together is my task.
Dash, side panels, glove box etc., new keisler tranny, parking brake issues done. Squeeks, squeeks and more squeeks.

Besides the obvious shaking and moving in the garage, does anyone have a technique for isolating these obnoxious little noises? It seems they only surface when driving.

Thanks for any help.

Joe

You might try having a buddy ride along with a mechanic's stethoscope (available at any AutoZone) to hunt down the general area of the rattles as you drive.

Thanks Jeff, I just didn't think of that.

But do you think I should strap him under the car or close him under the hood?

I thought squeaks and leaks are part of the patina associated with and necessary to be part of a real Corvette? Dennis

I think it depends on the size of both the engine and the passenger.

Big guy, small block - put him under the hood

I think you might have a few more noises than you have already.

Default Techniques

I have used some different techniques to resolve squeaks. I used to use rubber lube on the underside I would pick one area saturate drive for a few days and see what happens. I have used a light soaps mixture in the dash area It doesn't take much. WD 40 had always served me well. You need to figure out if its an inside or outside squeak. If its inside the car having someone apply pressure on different parts of the car may help define the area. I hate squeaks and I don't have any in my car. I could be hard of hearing though. Greg
