thanks for all of the responses. I thought I would get more of a mixed view but under my circumstance I think you guys are dead on. I need to TRY and not stress as much with the paint and drive the car instead of looking at it every few months when someone comes by and asks me whats under the cover. I still can not think of any car in existence that I would want more than a 67 corvette BB, roadster red and black...this car is just beautiful.
I've NEVER heard anyone say that they were glad they sold their '67 Vette. You only hear regret stories about it.
It will be easier to keep it around and not do much with it than trying to talk your wife into letting you spend $50K to go get another one 5-10 years later. It will make your retirement years alot more fun.
I drive mine everywhere - to Walmart for groceries - to the Canadian Rockies to leave it at a trailhead and hike - on Hot Rod Power Tour six times.
I put 4 stainless mud guards on it to lessen rock chips at 80mph, and when I head out of town I put a nose mask on it (see my web page for info). The most damage it gets going down the highway is small chips in the windshield, which has been replaced 3 times in 21 years.
