I've actually got a '66 Beaumont (Canada only) that requires replacement reverse lights in the bumper. The originals were plastic and are not reproduced as per the minimal numbers of these cars on the road. Hence the thought of using the repro Corvette reverse lights...if they fit...
thx

Ok, so are you looking for a measurement of the outside diameter of the entire backup lamp housing, or just the lens itself?

Thanks for the replies. The outside would be a good indication as the first step is to determine if it's large enough to cover the hole in the bumper...
Alright, I took these photos a few moments ago of my 65. While the tape measure alignment appears to be off in these photos, I can tell you that the maximum width of the outer chrome lip is a hair under 4"
and the maximum height of the outer chrome lip is about 4.5"
That should help you determine if you are in the ball park.
Hmmmmm. I think I have an old tail light housing laying around. If I can find it I'll measure the housing body which would be a better guide for how big of a hole to cut, hold on....
Thx Jeff. I just posted the bumper hole size prior to noticing that you had already measured! Appreciate you doing that! It looks like they taper in somewhat, so it may be an option for me to look further into.
Again, thanks muchly. (That's mighty fine looking paint on that 'Vette! Hope you're enjoying it!)
I think you may be in luck. It looks like the actual "tube" of the light body is 3 5/16" across in all directions
Man, you are helpful! If I understand correctly though, I'm thinking they might be a hair too big for the bumper hole (unless I'm missing something?)...

Yes you understand correctly, they are a hair too big, but you wouldn't have to enlarge the bumper hole by more than 3/16" in total to make them fit. If you are forced to modify the bumper, this could be an option that would get you legal.
Very, very, very nice. Redlines, side-pipes...very nice package indeed! (While I do like those GT's, isn't it typical to see a Ford guy parking in the handicap parking.)
Nice to see you're enjoying it as it should be enjoyed...

Good point. One other question if you don't mind. I was trying some Lemans/GTO reverse lights which almost did the trick...but they have a slight "wave" in the metal to accomodate the curve in the Lemans bumper. Can you tell if the 'vette backup light housing would be "flush" with a flat (albiet angled) bumper?

Ehh, most of those businesses don't open until 10, it was definitely not 10 yet when the photos were taken. The sandwich shop behind the GTs didn't open until 11.
I told my buddy that the gray GT was in the handicapped spot, because his performance was handicapped by "only" being turbocharged where as the white one was using a turbo to ram air into the supercharger.

Didn't notice. There were probably a 8 or 10 cobras all total. A few had very similar build qualities as each other (set back engine, transmission from same vendor, etc).
One more thing to keep in mind. I assumed you knew this since you asked about these tail lights specifically, but....
The tail lights are not simply round tubes with chrome flanges mounted at a 90 degree angle to the tube (housing). The chrome flanges are mounted at an angle because the rear of the car is sloped.
So if you are trying, for example, to put these into a vertical bumper surface, you'll need enough clearance for the light housing to slope down away from that surface behind the bumper.
