Default Charging problem

My 66 will not charge. I took off the battery post while running and it shuts off. So I changed out the alternator and regulator and it still willnot charge. I tested the wiring going into the alternator from the firewall and there is no power. from that point i'm lost. How about a little help on this one.

Default check voltage

Whats your voltage a the Hot post at the back of the alternator while running and while stopped?. The field needs to be excited to charge, so you should see battery voltage when stopped and 14 volts when running.

Joe, let's start from scratch. Have you measured with a DVM at the battery posts with engine at a increased RPM, say 1800, if so what reading in volts did you get?

I'm not seeing any voltage reading from the alternator or on my gauge inside the car.

A new voltage regulator out ofthe box was not calibrated correctly on my car, so I went with an electronic Wells VR715, works great.
