Here's what I did today: Installed N-11 off-road exhaust on my '67 (which are still too quiet for my taste), replaced wires going to the starter since they were getting charred, and crimped a loose end of a battery cable. It's a 427/400, 3 2-barrels of course, automatic. Now when I approach a stop the engine dies when the rpms lower to about 1200. Cranks right up, does it again next stop. It's a sudden loss of engine power, no stumbling or warning.
That's all I did to it. What could be the problem? Also, what is the cure for shielding the wires near the exhaust manifold?
Might be the vacuum led to the distributor. This might be a stretch, but you may have actually leaned out the center carb with the new exhaust. Check your idle mixture screws. I think GM sell a shield, but I know Moroso has one. Dennis
