There is an intermittent vibration under (even slight) accelleration at speeds above about 50 mph. Sometimes after accelaration and having experienced the vibration, the car seems to "level off" somewhat and does not vibrate much when re-accelerating. Can this be either drive shaft or axle shaft u-joints? or ?????? rear end ???? All joints were greased and then this started after about 5000 miles mostly high way driving these last few months.
Thanks much,
Frank.
I don't know that this will solve your problem but I had a problem with vibration with a 63 convertible. What I found was that the person that serviced the rear bearings did not put one of the clips back on the outer u-joint on the passenger side. This allowed the u-joint to enlarge or wallow out the half shaft. I discovered which u-joint when i measured the runout of the half shaft. The person that replaced the end on the half shaft showed the problem to me. The u-joint should be a interference fit in the half shaft and was not. Replaced the end of half shaft and cleared the problem.

Thanks, the tire question will be answered soon since I had 3 tires slashed halloween eve. I will also for sure look into the u-joint possibility next week.My problem is that it is intermittent vibration under any kind of accelleration after about 50 mph, when I coast in neutral at speed it is not there either. Thanks again
