First of all, the stock mufflers came in two varieties....the pretty much standard oval muffler and the round off-road muffler...they will certainly have different dimensions. Which version are you interested in ?
I was also going to ask a question re. the two muffler options, Which has the nicest note? I know the off-road has one less baffle so should be louder and does the balance pipe make much of a difference? Sorry, hope I didn't hijack your original post! I'd like to know the dimensions of both options as well.
The off-road mufflers absolutely sound the best....nice burble at idle and crank right up to a nice roar at high RPMs. The balancer pipe makes the exhaust harmonics sound better (to me anyway)...without it the car sounds like, "...two Harleys chasing each other down the street"...
RPO 441 Direct flow exhaust {off road} consisted of round mufflers similar to a Hollywood glasspack in 1962 and was a no charge RPO with the FI engines...The other years except I believe one or both 1956-1957 were oval mufflers ..with 2 in. inlet and 1 7/8 in. outlets....The RPO N11`s was available for a extra 37 bucks and started with the 1963`s used the oval current type/style muffler with all engines as I recall....
I was looking for the dimensions for the stock oval muffler. Also, the tail pipe diameter.
the ones I have on the car now are 22" long and I'm not sure they are the stock size as my exhaust system looks to be custom made.

All you need is a couple of Walker glasspacks for about 20 bucks each. Available in several sizes for inlets and the outlets.. Also available in angled or offset ends to match your particular size of exhaust pipes and the tailpipes. The correct size for the early Vettes are 2 in. inlet and 1 7/8 outlets.....Mine since we custom made the stainless system is 2 1/2 inlet and 2 1/4 outlet...out the back and no more dust throwers as the stock 61 and 62`s are known for....
