Has any of the resto-mod folks ever used these?

How do they fit on a mid-year ('64 specifically)? I don't mind some modification to the buckets, but are they even a possibility?

Just looking at the physical size/depth of the lamps, you will have too modify the holders, maybe even more. If you have a replacement head light, just hold it in your hand and look at the ad. Dennis

Thats a shame they look like great lights. Original C2 light buckets are too expensive to be modifying.

you would have to do a lot of night time driving to justify the cost

Has anyone run HID lights in a C2? What did you use?

I am in the process of a build on a 66. I am going with fixed lights under clear covers, a somewhat cleaner version of the Penske and Dick Thompson race cars. I am using the headlight assemblies from the BMW E30 series. They are the right size and spacing. The outboard lens trails the inboard slightly. There is a source on ebay that sells these assemblies with "angel eyes" as used in the new Camaro, and a HID Projector low beam.

I had a set of Bosch quartz halogen headlights in my 66 which had the hi and lo elements, and stuck out about 3/8ths to 1/2in more than stock. Fit fine and were a great improvement over stock candlelights.

Do you have the parts numbers for the headlamps. A couple of years ago I was looking at the replacements to a brighter lamp and decided not to do that. I don't drive that much at night but it would be nice to have a brighter light to help see the deer that want to play tag with cars as they pass by.

It sounds like the Bosch are just a replacement headlamp in the original spot is that correct? Thanks

Thanks. I'm not interested in the fixed lights look -- I think that the hidden headlight look is part of what makes mid-year Vettes look so good.

I'm not all that keen on halogen bulbs as well. Sorry, just personal preference.

I really like the HID bulbs and if I could get "angel eyes" to fit into the hide-away lights it would be the dog's ballocks.

Thoughts?

Lee, that was years ago and I don't have the car any more, and yes they are exact replacements for the stock sealed beam, and use the same plugs, but have the h-g bulbs and lenses that distribute the light much more where its needed for hi and lo beams. This type is common and made by many manufacturers. I've got similar ones on my 62, and the larger single round size on my 56 full size. Its one of the first things I change on any old cars for safety.

Just finished my headlight upgrade.

Check my thread from a few weeks ago.
