Yes, I agree, Paul's Plating! Long lasting too! In past years I used Frankford Plating their quality is the best, but turnaround time was "insane".

I agree with Pauls, but I'm anxious to try Va Vettes for some future plating.

Dick at Va Vettes did great by me. Turn around in under three weeks!

Bumpers - license plate bar etc.... Oh ya - had the ignition shields and air cleaner done - original and the AC Delco stenciling on the inside was still retained! Perfect!

Any steel piece is easy for platers, even bent pieces. For diecast pieces is does take skill and proper treatment. Only correct way to repair pits is to drill each one out from the back and fill with silver solder. Any other method and you get garbage. It's best to check beforehand with the plater of their experience with diecast.

I just picked up my bumpers today from Royal Silver in Norfolk Va. They did a great job and turned them around in three weeks.

Its possible to chrome an air cleaner lid, and still keep the stencil on the back?

Nope - the old chrome is stripped either in a chemical solution or baked off.

Hmmmm.....I know the repro lids come with the stenciling on them. I heard Paragon has a service to replace the stencil on a newly chromed lid. So apparently, the stencil is available. Maybe your lid was re-stenciled. Hard to believe that the original stencil could survive the chroming process.

Pauly, I have a chrome shop in IN that is very good. I just got a quote for a complete 53 package, stainless polishing also, for under $4500. They are only about 30 minutes from me.
