Hi Guys, new member here. I'm trying to get everything behind the dash working on a '64 Convert I just bought. The wipers didn't work until I cleaned the contacts on both the motor and the switch. Now when I turn them on and then off, they continue running for 1-2 minutes before they stop wiping. This can't be normal. It's almost as if the washer mode is kicking in and then times out. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?
I'm not sure about your problem, but I agree with you, running on is not right. Has a wire been switched on the wiper terminals. Welcome you to the CF. Someone here should have some thoughts on your issue. Dennis
Pull the front cover off the motor and you'll probably find the lube all caked up - clean it and re-lube, and you may be back in business. The Shop Manual has a lengthy chapter on the wiper motor.
Re-lubing and touching up the points brought mine back to life. The old lube had 'congealed' and hardened and the points had some corrosion and needed adjusting.
I don't think a C2 wiper motor is that much different than the C1 judging by John's photo...
