Default Quick release steering wheel

Just wondering if anyone has implemented a quick release steering wheel hub? This is for a '59 but I am using an Ididit column which has the same splined shaft as the original. Don't really need the horn button to be on the steering wheel either.

The quick release steering wheels I've been around require a shaft adapter and a special hub for the wheel. The shaft adapter is a hex piece with a milled groove around it for the locking pin. It is attached to the steering shaft by any of several means including welding. The wheel adapter has a female hex hole that a spring loaded pin slides into the side of.
All of the quick release wheels I've been around have been in race cars where ammenities like turn signals have been sacrificed and gutted to fit the adapter. I don't think it would fit cleanly in an Idit column.
Also, be sure to solidly attach the adapter to the steering shaft. I personally know of two drivers who have had the experience of having their steering wheels come off at speed due to the adapter coming loose.

Happened on a Pinks episode. Car launched - steering wheel came off. No damage.

hi guys, not a C1 or C2, but my pantera has a removable steering wheel. it is not like the circle track cars that use that cross pin. mine came from Hall pantera. it was expensive to buy but super cool. you just push the emblem in the center of the wheel (where the horn button would be) and the wheel pops off. to install the wheel you just push it on until it "pops" back in place. the column is splined like every other column and that is where the kit attaches.

if there is enough interest DOKK can come over and take pics of the removeable wheel assembly and post them.

DOKK, what's with the big ears???, you must getting CRS too..... i showed you the removeable wheel on the pantera...:l eaving:
