I've read a ton of posts on this subject, but still have a few questions. I have my vent assembly all loose, but can't seem to get the bottom of the assembly out of the door. I thought I'd remove the whole thing and check everything out. Do you have to remove the side window or not. I have heard discussions Coupe VS Vert and have read the AIM over and over again. It does not say to remove the side window. It seems to me that you can't get the bottom stud out of the door without removing the window. What is broken on mine is the t-post and I think the regulator gears are stripped. Do I even need to remove the whole assembly to replace the regulator and t-post?
You dont need to remove the entire asym to replace the regulator. Three screws and it comes right off.
You have to push the lower post through the door and then turn the entire asym 90 degrees so that the lower post is parallel with the door. It should then lift straight up. Two people are better than one on this...
This info is on a convertible...not sure about a coupe.
If the post where the regulator attaches to the window is broken, you may be able to remove just the vent window. I remember you have to push the window down to get the chrome post out of the frame.
I would let someone else chime on on whether you can remove the vent window with the asym still in the door.
Not sure on the regulator, but it is possible to remove the vent window glass and frame without removing the whole assembly (on a conv.). You have to remove the three regulator screws and the main frame attaching hardware, this will give enough clearance to push the window down far enough to get the upper pivot out of the main frame.
